March 15, 200520 yr comment_116830 Unless someone was making a "rice-machine" Z, I don't think there would be any reason to. Don't get me wrong, it looks great sometimes, but I just don't think the Z would look good with it's doors up in the air. Plus, its posible, especially because if the size of the doors relative to the total area of the car, that it would be very difficult to get the physics right to make it work. March 15, 200520 yr comment_116833 < shivering > no offence but it would ruin an early Z , I have seen several 350z with that done Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15229-early-z-doors/#findComment-116833 Share on other sites
March 15, 200520 yr comment_116848 The doors are going to look pretty funny with the window surround hanging off them. I spoke to Her Majesty about this issue some time ago and she advised that a proper 240-Z never has her doors hiked up in the air. (I think its a Fairlady thing) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15229-early-z-doors/#findComment-116848 Share on other sites
March 15, 200520 yr comment_116874 Lambo doors on a Z car, give me a break! Have any of you seen how flimmsy these doors look when opened. They kind of wave in the breeze. March 15, 200520 yr comment_116880 Well, I must confess that this set up was a serious option on our 77. The company that was going to do the deal was called "Decca Doors". Decca would have to fabricate a piston type hinge. The hinge was big, bulky and ugly. The weight for it alone was 20 or 30 plus pounds, add the weight of the door to that and the metal would eventually fatigue where the hinge was installed. Our body guy strongly argued against doing this to the car. Now all this was about 4 years ago, things have changed and these doors are more popular so maybe an early Z could handle it.FWIWVicky Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15229-early-z-doors/#findComment-116880 Share on other sites
March 15, 200520 yr comment_116930 Vicky, I did a drawing of my Z a little bit ago, 26-th Z is right. No matter how I drew it and colored the car, it just did not look right. So, now I am shaving the handles. Still not sure about the side markers.
