Out of interest Vincent, the wheels in the pic look very much like those on the rear of my '72 KGC10 Skyline,15"x ?,(225x50x15 tyres) little outside dish, lotsa inside dish. Could they be for a C10 series?

Jim.

Legally and practically streeters could use say 6-6.5" wheels no problem, they just don't need wider wheels than that.

Anything more than that is simply rice IMHO. They are not race cars so why try and look like one?

I have a 7.5j for the rear and 7j for the front. They will not look ricey. When I think of rice, I don't think of tasteful modifications. Watanabe's in any size on any early Z or Skyline look great, but never ricey. There was no harm done, just sharing my opinion. I would love to have a track car, but it is not feasible now.

Ben :)

p.s. Lachlan, I prefer 9.5j wide for the rear with over-fenders. 8.5j up front please. 12j is just showing off, but it would be super cool :smoke:.

I think they did come off a C10 skyline now that you mention it.

Just out of interest Jim, how did your skyline handle on the stretched 225's at the track.

These are a pics of the rims when they were in japan.

As far as the sale of my wheels is going, not looking good at all.

Can't find anyone to act as a middleman for the auction and there is one day left.

I really must take one of the wheels off and see what size it is. The tyre does look stretched in the pic I posted earlier...I'll take another from behind in the morning for comparison.

I had the intention at some time to get another set of wheels to fit some track type tyres too (how many times can you say " rubberbabybuggybumpers" LOL )...sounds like the ones you may be selling would be perfect. Sadly it will be some time before I could consider spending that kind of money.(No reflection on the asking price V !)

Regarding the handling? Well ... On the road it's great, but they are definitly NOT track tyres. It seemed to start drifting early if you know what I mean. No sudden transition from grip to slide, which was good for a novice like me! Once it started you could back off a little and drive it through..or if there was enough road to play with, keep up it and sort of neutral to understeery drift across the track. As this was the first time I've ever had a play on the track, my driving was very inconsistent as I attempted corner approaches and departures in allsortsa ways LOL ..and all sortsa gears :stupid: I couldn't honestly say I noticed what the rears were doing...I just don't know enough yet to say what's tyres or what's suspension or the nut behind the wheel!...Sh*t most of the time I was too busy keeping out of the way of the turbo-thrusted, fuel injected, triple reverse jumpover rinkback zonna-metered things also on the track to know where I was :paranoid:

I'll try again at Goulburn. Are you gunna be there?

About your Yahoo Japan auction, it's most likely too late now, but I know someone who MAY be able to help in future. I will enquire further and let you know.

Cheers,

Jim.

Well, I finally found someone to bid for me 2 hours before the end of the auction.

Alas, by the time I plugged in my maximum bid the price had skyrocketed well over my limit.

Just out of interest, they were a set of 16 x 8.5, 16 x 9.5 watanabes with tyres.

They eventually sold for 141,000 yen- which is roughly 1800 AUS?[roughly double that figure for a landed cost in australia]

I also noticed that the Kobe Seiko 4 spoke remake wheels with huge dish are for sale recently. starting price is 500,000 yen for a pair!!

So for the moment my wat's arent for sale anymore.

If something piques my interest again, i shall let you know Deus Ex.

thanks.

-----------

Jim,

I'm going to try and make it down to goulburn (don't think my Z will be road ready by then), any excuse is good enough to go to wakefield.
