MSA Show

On Friday and Saturday (in the past) you could park your car in MSA's lot. As for the "altogether" part, the only way to park together is to arrive together and find an area with enough open spots. It's first come, first served, not reserved parking.

On Sunday, they (MSA) will tell you where you are to park. With 500-600 cars to deal with, they can't let people park wherever they want, or to hold spots for friends.

Thanks Carl..... I guess I will drive over on Fri & Sat and park it in MSA's lot. On Sunday it must be a real zoo trying to check in and park 500/600 cars....

I will be an experience, I am sure, but am looking forward to it.....

We trailer the red Z out there. Scott won Best of Show at MSA in 2003 so we can only display the car. I love the drive to California. It's nice to see some mountains and different landscapes. Takes about four days to get to LA from here. Scott has a friend that drives his Z from Connecticut (sp?) to the show. Kevin wins the long distance award every year.

Are you going?

Vicky

It's too bad that the San Antonio show is the same weekend and not the week before/after so that you could stop there and participate. Here's the info for anyone interested: http://www.z-sport.com/zfiesta.htm

When Troy first spoke to me about having a show in April. I said, just don't have it the same weekend as MSA and I will be there. Well, it's the same weekend and I have to go to MSA and will miss the show in SA. Dang, he's stubborn

Yes, I think he will loose several people that would have otherwise attended. I do understand the reasoning though...it has to do with dovetailing the Z event with the kick-off of San Antonio's Fiesta and thus the weekend was set for the Z event that way. If they were not trying so hard to incorporate some of the Fiesta kick-off activities then the date could have easily been a different weekend. My Z will be in pieces during both shows so nobody will see my car but I may try and get to SA for the show.

ZIII, the MSA show is very orderly on Sundays. They have had lots of practice. be prepaired to be in a fairly long line of Z cars as they run them in one at a time.

Ron, I'll take heart in your optimism although that is a lot of cars. Seems to me, as this is such a big event, that one day (Sunday) just for showing makes for a rather tight day. Other big events that I have been to such as Carlisle you bring your car, park it for a couple of days, do your tour, look around at other cars, hunt for those spare parts all the while your pride and joy can be looked at. But, since this will be my first show at MSA I’ll just go with the flow and hope for the best.

George

BTW, I would have also like to have made the show in SA.... too bad its on the same weekend......

George:

What you may not realize is that the MSA show takes place on a public street, right in front of the MSA business. They are located in a light industrial area and have neighboring businesses which depend on access. The street (a rather looong block) is closed from Saturday night until after the clean up on Sunday. I don't think they'd be able to have the show if they insisted on closing the street for more than Sunday.

I have not displayed my car, but have parked across the street (starting at 6AM) for the 2001, 2002, 2003 events and observed the line up of entrants to enter the show area. They (MSA staff) are organized, but with the sheer number of cars, it takes time to get everyone checked in and parked. So plan on getting up early to get in line.

Carl,

Thanks for the info.... Are there used parts vendors and such at the show or non-commercial parts sellers etc? I would imagine that since MSA is running things it isn't likely that there would be folks selling NOS and other items.

George:

There hasn't been any "official" used parts venders there the years that I went. Also, I think that MSA frowns on people (entrants) bringing in parts to sell, BUT, I have seen entrants set a few parts in the back of their car or on the ground behind it with for sale signs. I didn't see anyone jump their case for doing so, but it's a big show and I didn't observe everyone, all the time.

They do have some vendors, like K & N Filters, but I don't remember who they were.(except SportZ magazine is always there)

Oh, if you want parts from MSA, best to get them on Friday or Saturday. Their business is usually packed on Sunday.
