Air Intake Air Ducting

Didn't the 280z have some form of airbox infront of the radiator anyway?

I thought they had it ideally located in the 280z correct me if I'm wrong?

there is a shallow box with the air filter in it, and a long nose reaching to the center of the radiator. It doesn't look like it flows air well.
