R32 & 33 Skyline GTs Strut Towers

Dont know if this true or not............but someone told me, that the "R32 & 33 Skyline GTs Strut Towers" are a straight swap for a 1970-78 Z Strut Tower, well will bolt in with no modifications,

Has anyone ever heard of this? or done this?

You mean the struts themselves don't you, not the towers which are part of the body work and which house the struts.

From what I've heard some of the later Nissan stuff will fit with some modification, can't be more specific than that.

Sorry, got my wires crossed...........this is what i was eventually told once i spoke to the right guy :classic:

Get a set of Jap Spec Z31 strut,

Remove the spring and spring lip from a 1970-78 Zed and install it on the Z31 struts,

Install the Z31 strut into the 1970-78Zed - which is a straight bolt in (as both are Macpherson struts),

You swap over the springs because the Z31 is much larger than the earlier Z spring,

If the strut is from a Z31 non-turbo version should have 4 stud bolt pattern, ifs its the turbo version it should be 5 stud bolt pattern (if you go the 5 stud bolt pattern, than you have to modify the rear drums - or just use different wheels front and back :classic: )

Now you have vented disc's and 4-spot calipers,

But the cool thing is, apparently, if you want to upgrade your brakes later, R32 Gts Skyline rotors and calipers are a straight bolt-on, but only if you use the Jap Spec Z31 struts,

Does any of this sound like its possible????????

the non turbos (usdm z31) only had 4 lugs in 84 and 85. after that they all had 5 lug, turbo and non-t. and (again, usdm z31) front calipers were 1 pot till 87, then 2 pot. this may help. i don`t think there was that much difference between the usdm and jdm z31, as far as suspension goes.

For you brake questions look at the DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) site which lists all the specs of the various rotors, very handy.

I vaguely recall something along the lines of what you said but also that the steering arms were different.

Probably the only way to know for certain is get my hands on a set and do some measuring,
