If you must know the details, the delete option was removed because it is buggy. Right now I don't have it enabled because it has deleted the wrong picture and modified the database pointers incorrectly. I need some time re-creating the thumbnails, database pointers, and links to assure that the delete option is functioning properly. I don't want to lose stuff that isn't supposed to go away..

This is the first time you've voiced this explanation. Every time we have discussed it in the past you have used the explanation below (including earlier to day) which makes it sound VERY MUCH like images are be guarded by the "Keeper of the Gates".

If I had more people posting pictures rather than members deleting their ENTIRE galleries based on an emotional response, we can talk about putting the delete function back.

No mention of bugs there

For someone who says that it doesn't matter... you sure are very opinionated about this issue........

I said it doesn't matter if one or many people deleted images in response to your assertion that many people HAD deleted images. I stated that IMO they have a right to do so, where you were complaining that they had done so.

The issue (ability to manage our own images) matters to me, but it doesn't matter to me if 1 or 1000 people delete their images.

I don't appreciate your implication. I have worked many hours trying to get those photos back. ZmeFly actually went to various shows for me acting on behalf of the club. His photographic work was part of the reason we had such a good gallery in the first place. Why he did that I have no idea.

Sorry. But it seems fishy. At a time when the "delete" function had already been disabled, he was able to delete images. I'm not pointing a finger directly at you. There have been other "Super Moderators" who may/could/ possibly have been involved.

As for why he did it (after he was dead!), I think that we can surmise that it was either part of his disappearing act, or done in retaliation for the club publicly discussing his dishonesty and faked death. It sure wasn't done because he liked the club.

You're right. It's all my fault. :tapemouth .

No one is "at fault", but YES I am right. You gave your explanation (since changed) and then I gave mine in response to the questions that you asked. Your implication that I spoke my mind and you hadn't done so, was completely false. (If that wasn't your implication, what were you saying?)

PS: I will work on completing my review of the delete button issues. Until then, please contact me if you need something deleted from the gallery.

And it bothers me, or I wouldn't have brought it to your attention. Perhaps someday the articles will be posted on a website that I control, and if/when that occurs, I will provide links to the information.

(sigh) Please don't make out like I'm twisting your arm to to do anything. I fully comprehend that you have a rich and full life to live that extends well beyond the CZCC website. I (and probably others too) have accepted that changes will happen if and when you want them to happen. But, like most people in a free society, I reserve the right to react to circumstances as I encounter them.

Ok, thanks for the explaination. I just don't understand why you would hold out on the other members by not sharing your knowledge. And, doing so just because you don't agree with me on an issue. Believe it or not, I believe you have contributed to the success of this club. To hold back your contributions because of a disagreement really does nothing for anyone.

The reason I make decisions, such as the ones mentioned above, is in my interest to protect the club or the members within the club. I am typically known for doing whatever it takes to protect our content because I want this club to be a success.

Therefore, I encourage everyone to post and share whatever they can. Disagreements with management can be taken up on a different level. This site is so full of useful information for classic Zcar fans... it's priceless. The whole reason I started this club was to make a central location for the classic Z. I'm proud of what we have all accomplished here. And, I am a little protective over it... ;)

I still post often, and share the information (on a piecemeal basis) that would have gone into those articles.

Thank you. Most of us do what we can to make this place a great resource.

I (actually we, I am sure) fully understand and believe this.

Again, I understand this.

It is my opinion that sometimes people (including you and I) can go a little overboard when we are passionate about something.

(No harm meant by the above statement)

At arms distance. (Hey, you're a guy, & I'm a guy)

We need the 'back pat' hug... ;) Another famous guy hug.

Besides, racegirl might get jealous, and she's probably in a bad mood today anyway, since Bobby Labonte finished 37th in the Atlanta 500.

hahahahah ahahahahhaah hahaha... ooooohhhhh boy. Yea, she's not too happy about that one..... LOL

PS: I just noticed that we don't have a smiley for the ;) wink smiley... I'll have to dig one up somewhere.

I think at one point in this discussion, both Mike and Carl BOTH started looking like thier avatars! LOL

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

On a more serious note, I'm glad that everyone was able to see this discussion as it's an important one. I've seen boards collaspe into chaos over this type of issue, and it's nice to see that everyone here is willing to discuss the matter openly and honestly. "intellectual" property is a very hazy subject, and in the case of a board such as this, the area can get even hazier very quickly. Consider, for example, the most innocent idea of posting a wiring diagram to help out a fellow member with a problem with his/her car. TECHNICALLY, you do not have the right to post such a thing. In reality, no one much cares.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Admins of this board, I think this is THE place for Datsun (more specifically older Z) owners and lovers. I understand completely how much work is involved in running a site like this, and the dedication by all (including it's members) is reflected in the quality of the site. I hope that every member can also appreciate this and do thier part, large or small, to contribute.

I find it amusing that after a lot of thread, the fact that the delete option is buggy is brought up...bring that up first thing, and I would have understood.

I have felt that if you post it to the website, its public domain, (but with the © classic zcars at the bottom)...if anyone's concerned about their photos being used elsewhere, the web is the worst absolute place to put an image. That is just common sense, hard to imagine it any other way. What are people thinking? And if somebody posts 3000 perfect Z pictures, they should be able to delete them at anytime...by posting it's inferred that others can save and use these pictures ANY way they want. The fact that it is copyright your website does protect in some fashion against someone making a buck off of the picture, but for personal use I should be able to download any picture I want if its on here. The pictures I've posted can be on a billboard in Manhattan for all I care...once they're on the web.

Have a Zed-ful day!
