Nitros

I have a (N36) intake, 240z ballance tube on a great 2.8 motor. Rotation assembly is balanced, its really well set up all around, ignition, stage one cam, etc.. I dont know much about nitros except that its usually used with turbo motors as it cools intake aswell as adding the horsepower. Are there kits for datsun's .i.e non aspirated?, injectors sylnoid switches etc.. sorry for spelling. Is it a good idea? Come on lord just give me the magic solution of more power at the touch of a button!! Thanks!

No kits for a Z engine specifically that I know of. You could probably get something to work, but you would be limited somewhat in the fact that without major upgrades to the fuel system you would need to stay near the 100hp kits. 50-100hp kits should be available for a somewhat resonable price and shouldn't require too many modifications. Anything more than 100hp and you would need to supply more fuel and that means a larger fuel pump, possibly a seconday fuel injector etc. Not that an extra 100hp at the touch of a button wouldn't be a blast. There are kits up to 300+ hp but they probably would require internal as well as external modifications to the engine. One goof and it will go up in a very loud bang.

It still sounds like it might be posible without a billion dollars. I didn't want to go too high in HP boost as I care about my motor but I figure 50 more above 3,000rpm is worth looking into. Where would the injectors need to be installed? Is it simple tap and die work or what, Im sorry but I dont know much about it. How much do these kits run.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that might try NOS I've been looking into it and I think the injectors will probably fit into the inlet manifold tap n die etc. They are then activated by a solenoid system which is in turn activated by a switch on the throttle pedal. This way you only get a HP boost when your foot is hard down, this mean you can drive the car normaly when you want to hope this helps.

Take a look through our links area. I seem to remember something about NOS kits coming through there. There was a business of some kind that made a kit for the Z. You'll have to browse through at your own pace. Let me know if you find something!
