Posted May 2, 200222 yr comment_6571 This is my 3rd thread, I dont have any more questions...I swear. OK I gotta great rally book on datsuns, Im not a rally guy but thats not important. I saw many 2.4 and 2.8's in there with cross-flo heads. So I've decided I want one along with many other things. They dont come from the USA, as some guy at a performance website said you cant get them in the states. SO where do you get them? Just curious, I probably couldn't afford it anyway but whatever. OK no more questions, Im done, thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1538-cross-flo-heads/ Share on other sites
May 2, 200222 yr comment_6581 You could put an S20 4 valve cylinder head on your L24 but that would set you back $15K - The old cross flow rally heads? no idea how much those are as those are even more rare....-e Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1538-cross-flo-heads/#findComment-6581 Share on other sites
May 2, 200222 yr comment_6596 Ouch 15k for a head, how come are they very rare. I would think you could have a head built from scratch for that much. Anyway i'm interested in these head designs is there a site that describes them. What is an S20 head, i'm not familiar with it. May 2, 200222 yr comment_6597 Check out HS30-H post on this thread. It explains the S20 head in some detail as well as a helpful intro into RB engines. You might be better of dropping in a RB instead of NOS or a S20 and you'll see a huge difference in power and economy too. I can't figure out how to insert the link so go search option at the top of the main page and type in S20. You want the thread called What is the RB25DE Motor? May 3, 200222 yr comment_6615 I've heard that the cross-flow head is still available in UK. Look at the webside of the british Z car club or ask Mike Feeney at www.lightman.co.uk/mjp. May be he sells it or at least knows a sourceGood luckRolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1538-cross-flo-heads/#findComment-6615 Share on other sites
May 3, 200222 yr Author comment_6621 240znz, Im interested about these RB motors and from what I read from your linked thread (rb25de) they're all from skylines; non, single turbo, and double etc.. right? What year skyline motors are these and what kinda prices are we talking. I noticed someone had the RB26TT in a 240z, must be a blast but did you sell any limbs for it. Also the s20 head Im still not sure on, I dont understand its application. i.e. is it only for these RB motors and moderately priced for that application and only $15k for the 2.4. Just trying to choose right for the next 240 project without dropping in the mass produced 350 that gives a wonderfull 14sec 1/4mile, sarcasim at its best. thanks a lot, Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1538-cross-flo-heads/#findComment-6621 Share on other sites
May 3, 200222 yr comment_6626 NZ$1600 (US$715) RB20DET + gearbox or NZ$2800 (US$1252) RB25DET + gearbox, both were a cheaper option than buying triple webers alone in New Zealand. Motor year is 94.I'm sure there was someone on this site advertising RB engines. Have a scout about or start a thread.
