Just a story I have to get off my chest!! Today at my girlfriends family gathering, a guy ask me how my Z project was going and then made fun of me for having a datsun, along with about 10 other guys standing around! AHH!!! :mad: THis made me so mad. I love the way the car looks and performs. THose SOB's will go down. I have to have the fastest, best handling, coolest looking ride. Need suggestions on what to all use as far as engine, suspention, etc. I have already decided that a V-8 will get put in it. Help me so I can make them eat there words, and so I can eat there corvettes. Thanks for letting me vent guys I needed that!

Doesn't matter how much you spend, someone will spend more. If you let yourself stay in this macho mentality, you will never be satisfied. Not with this car, and not with life in general.

Just enjoy your ride. That's what it was meant to do for you. There will always be those who envy how much you enjoy your Z.

Your car can be extremely fast with the I6 it has now. It can look great with a set of tripples and sound great with the right head work, header, exaust. And the best thing is you can drive the hell out of your Z for 150K miles and still have a reliable everyday driver.

I work in a shop crammed full of total American Iron, drag racing nuts. Yea, they poke fun of my Datsuns. The ones I respect recognize that a car nut is a car nut. There's not much diffence between me, wanting the right zinc plating on my fuel rail, and the fellow who wants the original driver's side mirror for his 68 Chevy Nova.

Let them laugh. Why should you give a care to what they think. A real car enthusiast would understand.

Sorry to butt in on your thread, but this struck a nerve for me.

I agree with "enjoy your ride". If they don't get it Sc**w em. It has wheels, it's cool. Corvette guys laugh at my "cute little" 1970 Mini Cooper, till we hit the autocross course. All cars have strengths/weakness.

I also see the same issues when I ride my motorbikes, sometimes getting snubbed because I don't ride a tricked out Harley. Most "real" bikers are cool. The a**holes tend to be people that bought their way in with $30K+ custom bling bling machines and riding lessons. You will never change their mind so why bother?

Just give a wry smile and say "nice ride", drives them crazy.
