DeoxIT Who here has tried it??

I just got off the phone with a very wonderful woman(if I weren't married...) at Caig Technical support, I explained to her the process I was going to use to restore and improve my wiring harness, and she offered to write me a prescription and instructions for perfect connections in the old wiring harnesses. Of course I took her up on it!

She then offered to address questions from our membership on cleaning connections, and even participate in the pertinant threads! I will incorporate her contact info into this thread when I receive her perscription.

The whole conversation started because I placed an order that was not filled properly, an easily understandable mistake was made, but that mistake opened up the avenue that haas lead me to a better procedure than I was originally going to undertake, and a fruitful solution to the mistake!

prescription, Will.

The idea sounds good. I've had some good results with the DeOxit100, but I ultimately wish there was a way to fix up the strands inside the wire. If you need to splice wires or something, and you strip off some insulation, what you find underneath is the black stuff. :(

A bigger bottle of DeOxit 100 would be nice too. Probably cost you $50 tho.

thx

Will you share the prescription with us as well as her contact info? It would be nice to have that as a reference material.

FYI--

There's something called 'tuner cleaner'...it's at Radio Shack as well...it is like $2.00 or something....it is used by stereo repair techs to clean contact points..this is what I use, and it works great!

Just FYI.

I used it on my cargo door contacts for the power locks (cause they eventually don't work anymore due to corrosion on the metal contacts) one application and it hasn't had to be redone in 2 years...which is really good for these contacts.

These would appear to be prices for CASES rather than single, individual containers, but yes it illustrates that there are large size containers available.

I get this:

caig deoxit Spray

You get a metered spray, so you can't just hose down the part, wasting the expensive liquid. The stuff Will ireferenced looks like a liquid in a bottle that you apply with a brush or swab. I like the spray to get into the tight spots.
