April 9, 200520 yr comment_120005 If you are near Hawthorne, CA. Check out Pierre's Z. He's the guy that did the Restoration project for Nissan when they resold the Z car. He may sub it out, but he knows his stuff.I personally had my motor built by Contemporary Auto in Huntington Beach, CA. Although not specifically a Z specialist, a machinist/Engine Builder recommended by Motorsport Auto. Its a long lasting motor,..going on 10 years. Not sure whether he is still in business.Yes, Rebello Racing Engines is #1 as far as racing engines. "Extracting the most power for ITS racing" regulations. If "Dave's Place" is another shop, please give me their contact info. Thanks,David Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15514-so-cal-l28-engine-rebuilder/#findComment-125856 Share on other sites

June 1, 200519 yr comment_125880 I'll have to second the Rebello recommendation! Dave and his crew do some damn nice work. Dave went through my SU's (punched out to 50mm) and when I got them back....well lets just say they looked like jewellery and far too nice to mount on the side of an engine! Deffinitely a #1 place to have new life placed back in your L6 motor. June 1, 200519 yr comment_125886 I would suggest Les Cannaday in Southern California. He builds a number of race motors for Datsun Racers locally, and has the best engine builder around to build up your motor.Classic Datsun 760-940-6365I know Dave Rebello too, and have friends that run his motors and he builds a strong motor as long as you don't build something too wild...Dave is in Northern California so I dont know if that fits your criteria. June 2, 200519 yr comment_126067 If you know what you want and just need a good machine shop to do the boring/honing/balancing/etc (used him for two different blocks already)... I'd recommend Mark De Groff in the SF Valley on Parthenia near where it crosses Reseda Blvd. 818 701 5274Another good machine shop who's services I have used (for my cylinder head) is Randy @ REBCO in Thousand Oaks 805 496 0823. Just down the street from the Auto Mall on TO BlvdIf you want a great builder with Toyota Atlantic, CART, and drag race background you need to talk to Jack Parker at www.hightechperformance.com 818 908 0943 so he can put you in touch with their builder. (Also in the SF Valley)-e Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15514-so-cal-l28-engine-rebuilder/#findComment-126067 Share on other sites
