I could not be at the track for qualifying on Saturday, so had to start from the back of the pack (35+ cars) on Sunday. After passing a ton of SSM (Spec Miatas) I was able to finish sixth.

We had a Z on the pole (Jeff Lucas) and another qualified fourth (Mark Gibson). Jeff finished second, Mark was fourth, and Jim Cummings in a 280Z was seventh. I had passed Jim on the last lap and he had a good run on me that probably would have ended up with him re-passing me, but he had to back off for a yellow flag and I ended up keeping the position. All in all, it was a good day for Z watchers at Summit Point.

Oh yeah, Jerry Mowry won EP in a 240Z also.

Thanks Wayne. Sounds like the Z's did very well. I hope Motorsports Imaging was there. How many of these Z's will run at RA in Nov.?

Wayne do you know if anyone was there taking photos of the weekend? Results are here.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have lurking for a while but this thread got me to post. I am crew chief / DTR for the 26 ITS car. We will be at Nelton Ledges for the 12 Hour next weekend. We race mostly in the 4, 6 and 12 hour events as this is where the Z car really shines.

Here is a photo from last year at NL This car has only been with us for about two years it was purchased from a guy out near Cleveland OH after our black 280 got totaled at NHIS (VW hit us almost head on, Driver walked away, says allot about how these cars are built)

Respectfully

Dean

Cool. Thanks for posting Dean. It's neat to see the S30's running with & beating much newer cars. I plan to head down to Road Atlanta next weekend for the ITS races. Should be several Z's running.

I almost forgot Here is a link to a page I made for last years NL event. There are more photos of the z car. We had a problem with a rear strut coming apart. The other problem we consistently have is the two center supports that hold the dif in place (L shaped brackets on either side of the dif that hold it to the body) would brake. I think this is caused by the locked rear. We welded up new ones out of much heavier steel and it seems to have solved the problem.

Here is the link http://www.marx7.org/~dsmith/nelson_ledges_oh.htm
