April 1, 200519 yr Author comment_119147 Drag Racing, i'm not too confidant an r200 will take the shock of a 6500rpm clutch dump on slicks and 200 shot of nitrous through an ls1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15517-solid-axel-conversions/#findComment-119147 Share on other sites
April 1, 200519 yr comment_119159 I don't think you will be finding a kit for this. It would be a custom job. I have heard of a Ford 9inch kit that converted the centre, but kept the IRS, but then the halfshafts will probably need upgrading too. One question though, if you are drag racing, why are you using a manual gearbox? Or is it just the occasional blast down the track? April 1, 200519 yr Author comment_119163 just cuz i like being able to shift manually and ocassionally take it out for a spin, it's hard to drive a 4k stall converter car around town . But maily this will be a dedicated racecar besides i've had bad luck with torque converter balloning/ grenading (on nitrous) and destroying the tranny. April 12, 200519 yr comment_120322 hybridz.org, actually.there's an alternative = use an r230 from a 300zx/tt or infiniti q45. it's a 9" limited slip diff with IRS. There are guys who have already created mount kits and adapter plates. Your other alternative is to section the rear and convert it to a ford 9". You'll have to shorten the splines, obviously Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15517-solid-axel-conversions/#findComment-120322 Share on other sites
