240z Covertable

Recommended Posts

I had just finished my 72 240z . new stereo with six amps running 16 speakers , new duel webbers , engine had been bored 40 over with a wicked cam . 2.5 exhaust front to back , electronic ignition etc , etc .

i was showing off my finished z with the stereo when one of our truck drivers pulled in front of where i was parked . we started chatting and he was complementing me on the car and the stereo . i left the stereo on so all could listen while i stepped inside the shop to use the bathroom . during this time one of my co -workers leaned against the car and the car started to roll forward . ( i allways leave the e-brake off) he quickly reached in and put the car in first gear . i came back out and decided i better start the car so i dont run the battery completely dead. since the car allways starts on the first try without pumping the gas , i opened the door and reached around the steering wheel to start the car . now... in my head , the car was in nuetral where i had left it . when i hit the key the car started up instantly and took off tword the semi truck parked sideways in front of me . i was also dragged with the car . as soon as the car hit the trailer i was pinned by the door . the car proceeded to rip the roof off (some how i managed to get my head down ) and start going out the otherside of the parked semi trailer . i finally reached the key and shut it down . everyone was afraid to look because they thought i was decapitated. needless to say i now had a convertable 240z and i was fine . the car was a total loss. two days later i found my new 240z that had been in a heated garage for 21 years . no rust perfect body and complete for a wopping $500.00 . i swapped everything over to the new body and the car is now in the shop waiting to get painted 95 dodge viper pearl blue . every nut , bolt , screw , fuel line , tank straps etc, etc has been chromed . as soon as it gets finished i will send pics.

Wow. $500 bucks.

I am jealous, the ONLY reason that I hang onto my '74 is to place the engine into another 240 and then teach the wife how to drive it so she can join me in this madness.

If you can't beat 'em join 'em right?

At least that's what I'm hoping for...
