New turn signal now no horn

I finally put in a NOS turn signal switch in the 71, Nice to have front signals for a change!

It now appears I lost the horn. But it's been a little while since I used the horn so, I dont really know. :ermm:

The little contact strip for the horn on the new switch assembly IS making contact with the horn ring on the wheel.

Fuse is OK.

Wonder whats up?

Unless I'm too tired from working in the yard all day, the horn circuit doesn't run through the combination switch. It has a separate wire. Check to make sure you have all the bullet and spade connectors connected, you might have missed one, or inadvertently put in a spade such that it isn't actually inside the female.

I'll check my diagrams tomorrow.

On the 1971 turn signal switch that I have in my "spares" box, the metal arm (that contacts the ring on the steering wheel) has a RED w/ BLUE striped wire which runs to the connecter with 3 male spades on the turn-signal sw. assembly. Make sure the black (bullet connector) wire is solidly connected. I believe it may be a ground wire.

Still no progress made on my horn issue, but here's another question. while I now have functioning turn signals, it seems the speed is pretty slow. I notice if I put the emergency flashers on they seem to be at a normal speed. Do you think the actual flasher unit for the turn signals may be bad too?
