remedy Posted April 4, 2005 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2005 Hi fellow aussies.I just bought a 260 2+2. I saw someone post about it on here a few weeks ago as it was on Ebay. Bought it from Tassie and had it shipped up to sydney. picked it up yesterday.I'm very pleased with it, will make an excellent project car. I'll get some photos up here soon.Anyway, at the moment it has a single carb off a 80's skyline. I've got two sets of SU's, one is off a british car and is meant to be pretty good. How difficult would it be to change back to those and do you think it would improve performance much?Secondly, the car has a small amount of rust around the vents on the C Pillar. I've seen it on other zeds in the past. I will be looking to take the car off the road in about 2 months (it runs out of rego then) and have this cut out. This usually came about by dealers/mechanics who didn't know anything about Su's and generally replaced them with a 280C [Cedric] carb.I can't help you with any Sydney based info, however there are a lot of Sydnesiders on the board and I'm sure thay will make themselves known.MOM Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They are still attached to the manifold and I think I have all the linkages etc. I've got a book on how to work with SU's. How difficult would this change be for an amature like myself? Zedrally Posted April 4, 2005 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2005 Check if they have a "flat top" or "round top".Round top are considered better as you can adjust the mixture, flat tops are factory preset.Many people on this list bag flat tops, however several list contributors like myself have serviced them and found them more than satisfactory in normal conditions.In either case it would be wise to obtain a "kit" and overhaul them.MOM Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They look reasonably clean, but I think I'll pull them apart and go over them first. I probably should fix the clunky rear end before I go playing around with the engine anyway. Mike and Scottie do excellent work, cut all the rust out of my 260 (big job) and resprayed it.
