As the title says, Im building a 1978 - 280z with the intentions of a 350 SBC swap (I know not what the purists want to hear :smoke: ) but as I take the car apart, im trying to figure out what is worth saving (interior pieces, A/C inside trim...exterior, etc) and selling it.

You guys know so I thought I ask.

Thanks,

Miki Kologranic

PS: And if you need ask me, if I have it make offer

Anything that isn't cracked or can be restored is worth saving from the interior and selling.

Any exterior parts that have very little (or preferably no) rust. Chrome parts only if they are straight and have little or no peeling chrome or significant rust.

Are you keeping the driveline intact? If not, the trans and rear end are worth saving, especially if you can document that they are good functioning units not in need of total rebuild...

How is the engine? I may be interested in some parts since I live nearby...

For you and any others reading this thread . REMEMBER THIS THESE CARS ARE ALL THAT THEY ARE IN EXSISTANCE THERE WILL BE NO MORE MADE ! When you scrap any part of any early Z that is useable you are tossing away the future replacement parts for some one else or your self. Take it form some one that has learned it the hard way. Thanks for the advice Gary, that is why I am asking.

I bought the car of a co worker of mine, he had the car sitting for year and half not driven at all. He gave me a figure and I took the offer. According to him the engine has been rebuild 30K miles ago. One of the cylinder sleeves replaced and standard things like seals... Put synthetic oil in it, and the car has been lowered an inch front and rear. He was not able to give me any details, says he does not remember it. I have not cranked nor turned it over for two reasons, no ecu, and the fuel tank was rusty. LIke I said I probably will be dropping in a 350 sbc so whatever I can part out I will. Besides that, rusty passenger floor pan and under the battery tray and a small ding on the door, cracked dash (had a dash cap on it) I have saved most instruments from the interior like the tach, speedo, and other gauges...still have the dash don't think I will put it back...

Steve I would be glad to meet up and you can take a look at it. I will be saving the driveline.

Later
