Posted April 9, 200519 yr comment_119946 hello allmy 73 coupe when i bought it came with no side door windows or 1/4 side glass as well for both sides, can anyone tell me if the side windows a straight or do they have a slight bow, i dont know where else to get the side windows since i live in the united states, i have no access here to get the parts. i was thinking of making all side glass of scratch resistant lexan, same one used for race cars but i wanted to adapt a rail with the custom windows. if anyone has any ideas on what i can do please feel free to let your mind run wild i appreciate all your help. or if theres anyone who has any glass they want to sell please let me know, condition is not a factor for me, prefer no cracks but ill take what i can get. i have no access to junkyard parts here since the car never made it here in the states, thank you for your timemikeypsor if anyone has a spare center console i dont care what model or condition cracks are welcome, i can fix with fiberglass or whatever just as long as it can fit my 73 coupe please email me your price, im trying to complete the car as much as i can. thanks again Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15583-side-door-glass-help/ Share on other sites
April 10, 200519 yr comment_120040 Hi Mikey, my door glass has some scratches on both sides - I really would like to replace them. I just can't find any though, let alone new (even where they sold as new!).The glass has a bow, it is not straight. I can take some pictures later if you would like. April 13, 200519 yr comment_120402 Hey 73Skyline,Where are you located?I wonder if the Skyline you bought is the one I tried to buy several years ago. The owner (an AE86 Toyota guy) knew what it was when he found it at a local junkyard & bought it but then let it rot in the weeds in his backyard in San Bernardino 'cause he didn't care to do anything to it. It also had no side glass and a blown out rear window. He refused both $XXXX cash offers I brought as he said he didn't want to sell... weak...The car was imported in the late 70s and raced locally in SoCal with "Curry House" sponsorship all over it and as I recall had blue and yellow striping down the sides. Built L28Turbo with lots of nice Nismo parts on it... Is that the same car? I've got the VIN written down somewhere...If so, I'm bummed I am not it's present owner but am happy to hear you're on the Board and that the car will one day run again. My best advice to you is to find someone with the glass out of their car and beg/pay them to use it as template to mold some lexan over them... Otherwise you'll never get a decent fit and you'll end up riveting your Lexan in place. Remember also that if you go that route Lexan scratches easily so you may over time have more and more trouble looking out the sides of your car. I also remember reading in the CA Vehicle Code that it's actually not allowed for street-driven cars. The reason being in case of an accident you can't punch it out and escape that way if needs be...-e Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15583-side-door-glass-help/#findComment-120402 Share on other sites
