New Turbo Z owner getting No Spark??

Just bought a 1981 Turbo 280Z. It was running but missing. Now we are not getting any spark at all. Tried a good coil with no success. We were told by a mechanic that it could be the pick up coil, which we can't find, or possible the crank angle sensor. Any sugggestions would be appreciated.

It is probably in the crank angle sensor, or the distributor. You don't have a pick up coil, your distributor is really just another crank angle sensor-either the light source in either or both is out, or the ecm(or its wiring) has bitten the dust.

Did you verify the coil is working and not open?

if yes,

Did you verify the coil is getting pulses(means the sensors and ecm are working)?

if yes,

Did you verify your wires?

if yes,

Did you verify (repalce or clean)your Plugs?

If yes,

the car should be running if the problem was truely primary ignition.

Absolutely the best advice you will get anywhere... verify what is present in the car is what the car came with, and Get the specific Factory Service manual for what you have.

The Digital ecm in the turbo cars is just too much fun to diagnose-it changed every year-without definitive procedures and answers held by the manual you will be and easy target for frustration!!!
