carby flooding

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

bit of a problem with my carbies , both have been professionally rebuilt, the front is fine, the rear developes a leak after about 60 seconds at idle??. No leak at startup (cranking) its just as you think everything is ok.....petrol starts coming out of the balance / equalizer port on the rear carby?

Maybe (cars been off the road for 4 years) the needle is being blocked (stuck open) by sediment / crap? Have tried clearing the needle , worked fine for about 40-60 secs and then the leak reappeared!

Any ideas??

Cheers

G'Day Chris,

Have you looked through the carby thread yet ?

It's more than likely you'll find your answer there.

As they were a pro rebuild I can't see how there'd be any foreign matter in the carby. (If done correctly). Was the rebuild done recently or 4 years ago ?

If the needle is blocked, tapping the carby with the handle of a screwdriver will sometimes clear the blockage. That being the case, I'd remove the fuel bowl and clean it out.

Having removed the fuel bowl I'd check the free movement of the float.

Check out the carby thread though mate.

Rick.
