Great Lakes Z Day

I appreciate you made some effort for this event. What about all the other months and years. That is my reference point.

As you know I have been an advocate, but I never was told the club would promote an event of any nature. It was always if someone else can make it happen fine, but you never put your support behind an event.

PS. Your comment about my performance at the Solo II program is exactly what I would expect. Your were a one and out, even with two Z cars. My offer still stands. See you on the course, where ever. I think I'm the one with class win trophys, and season championship place trophys.

Lowell, I was at the annual meeting in 2004 when you brought up the solo event. You were told that if you wanted an event that YOU would need to get the ball rolling as YOU were the active solo participant in the club and had the contacts to make it happen. So it seems that you are either forgetfull or not telling the truth.

I resent your statment about the club being a "wanabbe". We have a very active and fun club that many members have put in countless hours to make the upcoming Z-Days a GREAT EVENT. My Grandfather told me "if you don't vote you can't complain". Since you have not renewed your membership in the club, take your ball and go home.

Have a good time. I'm sure lots of work has gone into the event.

You forget that I set up the first tour in the fall, and the president didn't even attend after insisting that it be in the fall not the spring. I had set one up in the spring and Jim cancelled it because of his personal commitment to the cincy club, etc.

Still, the club has yet to support performance events, your comment withstanding.

Yes, " if you want one do it yourself", there will be no support from the club". Is what it amounts to.

Which really means that there will be no yearly calander of events listing such a thing.

There are quite a few 350Z's at the solo II, but I don't bother talking to them anymore about ZROC, because the club is not something they might be interested in.

I am an enthusiast, original owner, rallied, Solo'd, autocrossed, and track day'd my 240Z. Past President of the Okinawa Sports Car Club, long time menber of the SCCA.

I can clearly state, I was given NO support by the ZROC to establish a performance event for the club.

It is easy to use an excuse that I was tolk "if you want it done do it yourself".

That is NO excuse for the lack of support from the club.

Lowell,

The first "Lowell's Winding Drive tour" I was there. Your Z developed a fuel leak, so we went on without you. I know I was because it was the first day that I had the 95TT. I even promoted it as your event......what happened there.....Didn't see enough support form the club!! Jan Yeagley worked on it and we did it again the second year. It's still opperational..Last year Bob Kresheky set up the course into Logan County and we all had a blast..... I

guess rolling hills and hard cornering isn't the same as Solo II, but most of the members consider it performance!

I can appreciate you long envolvement with Solo. (Perhaps you recall when I did a article about you in one of the ZCCO newsletters.) I don't think that the Club has been unfair or non-supportive. To compete in that event is a major full season committment. Some of us....including myself...are unwilling to commit entire Sunday's for the opportunity to spend 5-6 60-second runs around cones. Todate, about four of our members have done track days with NASA. Didn't you do one too?

As for performance related issues. I have to agree with Phil. We offered! You want...so get in and make a differance. SO here's a offer that you can consider. I'm sure that the other Board Members would be willing to promote a VP of Performance.......question is are you willing to put up?

Now, I will take exception to you attitude about our events not being performance related. So bring either car on August 13th and see the drive to Conkle's Hollow goes. Call Ernie, he coordinates the event. I will be off to the ZCON and a day at Watkins Glen. If you can't heat up you breaks there...when then your not trying.

Now if your intent is to just trash the club....or for that matter me....you should really reconsider it. Your looking like a grumppy old man.

I am a grumpy old man, you helped make me that way. I didn't come to the club that way. Think about it.

If you were there at the tour i'm wrong, but I'm not thinking so. You know about the event but you weren't there.

All of what you have written has some truth to it. The part you left out is the annual plans of events that never would have a solo event on it. The fact that the annual plan was made with little member input. I never was asked if you put an event on the schedule would I make it happen.

It was if you want such an event do it. There is one heck of a difference.

All we had to do is piggy back on any number of events and then

YOU support it.

Good luck.

  • 2 weeks later...

Now that is resolved back to ZDAYS.

Stop by the hospitality room on Friday night at the "CLEAN and SHINE" event at the motel. Make sure if you see Jim Corbet, ask him to show you the "Hanger Queen".
