ok well i have a new problem

i tried starting my z today and all i got was certain lights to come on, but i think it wouldnt start because the clutch pedal just hits the floor and bounces back and it barley goes into any gear... if my tranny's shot will the car not even start?

If you put the gear selector out of gear. Then try to start the engine . If the cluch peddle goes to the floor , most likely its either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder that is bad . The clutch or the trans has nothing to do with the engine not starting or turning over . If the battery is charged then the engine should at least turn over if not start. What year of Z are we speaking of ? Is it injected or does it have carbs ? Also what engine is in the car ? All these things help us to help you . Gary

if the clutch slave is bad (seized) it almost certainly will seize in the disengaged position (act as though the pedal is being pushed to the floor)...so this shouldn't be a clutch issue. I've had a couple of slaves go out on me due to the car sitting for periods of time---but this hasn't had any effect on getting the motor running.

Just my .02 dollars.
