After cleaning, lubing and installing the lock mechanisms and linkage, I understand why the Z is so easy to 'slim jim'. It takes about 30 seconds to grab the lever and unlock the door. I think it is kinda like the boys that drive convertibles: DON'T LOCK YOUR CAR! If someone wants in your Z, they will not have any trouble. I guess you keep in in the garage or don't put anything in it that anyone wants. Meth Freaks are everywhere!

You obviously didn't read my post very thoroughly...

You take two of your least used credit card style cards and tape 2 keys ...have them 69ing each other, tape them with scotch tape, and sandwich the keys between the 2 credit cards...never had any indentations of keys in my leather wallet....

good news is that all cars are basically like that...slim jims get open just about any rig pretty easily.

its the other things that help...

I've used a Club with the 4 way key hold type for like the last 6 years, I am upgrading though to a MSA steering wheel to prevent the steering wheel from just being pulled off w/ custom screws holding on to the steering column...also putting a mazda fuel pump in the back, very secure, with a plate covering it...having a magnet or a number code little thingy that if the code isn't know, no power to the fuel pump.

We had a "meth high guy" jump on the back of a wrecker and took a ride on the freeway. The wrecker driver was afraid to stop. The guy was waving a tire iron at the driver and yelling gibberish. When the driver saw a State Patrolman, he had him follow the wrecker into a rest stop. They said they never understood what the guy was doing or wanted. DUH! He was totally stoned.

The coolist spare key I have seen is a credit card that has an emergency key cut into it. You just break the key out of the card, unlock your door and drive home. It is the correct thickness and will only be used in an emergency. You can put the key back into the card and keep it in your wallet. Nice idea! I do not know if the car manufacturer made this key or if some after-market people thought it up. Anyone know of this key?

Yeah, we can get those credit card keys from our AAA club. (If they have a card with the proper "key blank" for your car) They told that they may not offer them for much longer cause more and more newer cars have keys with a "chip" in them ( part of a security system or something) and the credit card key is useless on those cars.
