1973 240z, rebello ITS motor (mostly stock).

ive swapped my race and street floats and there is a little red oil in there. how much is supposed to be in there, what type of oil is it, and how critical is it that i fuss with it?

There are varied opinions on what oil is best but i think a 20W will work well. I've used 20W in mine for a while and have always had good performance. Some people use tranny oil and so on. As to how much to use i just fill it to about 1/2 an inch below the lip, any overflow will just run off down the side of the piston, no harm no fowl there.

Sounds like someone used ATF since the oil is red. If you put 20w I would try to get all the ATF out or just use ATF. It probably would be better to not mix them.
