Hi guys, havent posted in awhile, been busy workin on my Z and school etc etc. Anyways I finally got her painted! Turned out quite well except for the doors. The doors looked great in primer, but once the paint got on them it told the tale, it looks like they were warped when sandblasted. Anyways I did a search and I know 240 doors on a 280 will not work without alot of mod. Anyways my friend has a set of doors off of an early 260, would these work on my 280z, production date is 7/76 for my 280. He said his 260 doors were very heavy, heavier than his 240's doors. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the lock mechanism-if they are the same as your 280, they will be almost as heavy as your original doors, and will bolt right up!

Early 260 doors would be the same as 240Z doors. I doubt they'll fit.

Are the body lines the same? I never heard of em being different.

It's not the body lines that makes the difference, it's the locking mechanism

No one said that. He's looking to use early 260 (same as a 240) doors on a 280Z

The locking mechanism from a 240/260 are the same as the 280 through 1976. They changed to a inside latch in 77 and 78. So the 260 doors should bolt on with no problem.

update, they did fit.

They should bolt on with no problem - and it seems they did.

The latches should work and it seems they did...

The problem is - they won't seal, because the two doors have different shapes where they fit inside the bodyshell. The shape of the door frame above the rockers is different... Driven at speed you'll hear the difference and when it rains you'll see the difference.

Someone on this forum went through this a couple years ago.

So this is a questions I have now .. I have 2 sets of door that i can put on my 77 280 and the new setts both have different latches. I could bolt the latch onto the body and mahe it work ... but are saying that it is not worth the trouble?

Anybody know where I could get two good doors for a 77 280?

Anybody interested in doors for 240/260 ???
