Posted May 1, 200519 yr comment_122197 Hey all. was hoping somebody might know how to test rally clocks or anyone that might repair them. I bought this one with the assumption that it doesn't work. I think I still got a deal. I also hope Alan or someone who is knows if I got the correct one that does not require an oscilator. Thank you in advance. May 1, 200519 yr comment_122199 To get it repaired you might try Zclocks......http://www.zclocks.com/240z-260z.htm Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15764-got-a-rally-clock-who-fixes-them/#findComment-122199 Share on other sites
May 1, 200519 yr comment_122200 That is a nice find Seerex. You are correct that it does not need an oscillating box as it does not have the stopwatch function as the earlier rally clocks had. I could be wrong on this, but I don' think that this particular clock would have been fitted to a Fairlady 240z (ZL). I think this would have been more likely equiped in a 1974-1978 S30 ZL. The person that I bought mine from refurbished it and I am sure that if it does not work any Z clock restorer online would be able to fix it. If you are planning to put it in one of your 240's you are going to have to change the connectors as the ones for 70-73 are diff from the connector on this clock. I hope I have steered you in the right direction. Congratulations on getting the clock. It is a really nice piece. May 1, 200519 yr Author comment_122203 Thank you Ben , yes I was thinking of putting it in my 71 when it gets back from paint. I might see if the zclocks.com guy which Z11 gave me the link to < thank you > can also do that switch or I may just hold on to it and see . I think I got a pretty good deal most of what I have seen for sale on ebay hit the 125-175 range so I was a bit surprised. May 1, 200519 yr comment_122212 You got a deal. I would hook it up first and see if it works before getting it restored as you never know with these clocks. I am not sure how you would do that though.Ben Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15764-got-a-rally-clock-who-fixes-them/#findComment-122212 Share on other sites
May 1, 200519 yr comment_122228 Hah! You schmuck, seerex! You are indeed lucky. I wasn't here to defend my bid. I'll get you next time!Bens' comments are right on and Zclocks can probably fix you right up. Nice clock. Those particular clocks are fairly common and go for around $75. The rallye clock with the oscillator goes in the $150 range. Although, these days you never know.To the best of my knowledge, zclocks replaces the guts with an electrical unit and it hums rather than ticks. I have several clocks to do including a rallye clock. Who has had luck with oscillators? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15764-got-a-rally-clock-who-fixes-them/#findComment-122228 Share on other sites
