These day trips are catching up to me!

Clark and I left San Jose at 5:15am and arrived in Solvang around

8:30am...not bad timing.

Of course cruising at 85-90mph with no traffic helps!

Solvang was awesome. This was the first Solvang with my OWN roadster!

There were 74 roadsters already parked when I last cheked. The rest of the

day was roadster bliss...it was so cool to see people in person that I've

only known through the list or 311s.org! All of you rock!

Some highlights from the day:

-A 1500 with a U20/Solexes!

-Keith Williams did a carb tune-up clinic for 5-6 lucky roadster owners.

-The Poker Run led by Gerardo(who suspisciously left his roadster behind)

was fun!

We actually had to ford a mini-river at one point. Bill Englehardt told me

to follow him as he could create a magical "wave front" that would allow my

roadster to be untouched by the torrents...next thing I know the roadster is

being treated like a white water raft! Thanks Bill :)

Clark, my ace camera man took some great video/stills.

-Fred and Annie Katz...bless them for stowing my softop on their luggage

rack when I left it behind at the park!

-Saw Tim Miner's SECOND 67.5 2L roadster...insane

-LOTS of engine swapped roadsters...the only non-Nissan swap was a Rotary!

I saw an S14 SR20DET for the first time in a roadster...this car had an

insane stereo system, custom bodywork, 300z brakes up front and Toyota AE86

disc brakes in back.

-Witnessed Eric Hankinson's Ford V8 beast in action...truly "unfair"

-Talked to Buzz about the next big secret engine swap :)

-Watched Brian Holloway drop mayo and mustard on my right front fender:)

-Talked to Buzz about automatic trannies in a roadster:)

-Watch Tim Miner tear off one of my rubber hood bumpers...I need my "ACE"

Tim!

-"blue dot" taillights on Paul Gabriel's 2000

-Talked to Buzz about wiring KA24 engines:)

-Finally met Pamela Bauman in person

-Ate some damn good pastries with Eddie and Clark

-Gerardo calls me while Clark and I are on our way back home and says that

I've won 1st place in custom/modified! Yippie!

Here are the videos I posted:

-Ron Carter revving the U20 race roadster, and then parking it

-Fording the river

-Eric's V8, starting and passing

-The rotary roadster idling away

-cruising down 101 with Clark sleeping

Big thanks to Lou Smaldino and FresnoROC for putting on yet another

successfull show.

Check both albums, chances are there is picture of YOUR roadster in one of

them!

I'd have to say it was a pretty nice show...learned a thing or two about the roadsters from Victor, who by the way, always welcomes you to rest at Camp Vic. These roadster folks are just as sick as us Z car folks. I drove my 240 up to Solvang Saturday morning.....very pleasent drive at that....hung out for a couple of hours and headed back toward Ventura. Was a fun and educational day! Thanks for being such a host Victor.

My son and I went down Friday in his '68 2000. Alvin posted some pictures of it, a light green high windshield car. Not a show winner, but he got the prize for youngest roadster owner (17). It was fantastic to see 75 roadsters all in one place. 240ZX, was that you in the Z with the wild flame paint job? Nice ride. My ears are still ringing after driving 500 miles round trip at 90 mph with the top down, but it was a great time.
