Posted May 4, 200519 yr comment_122524 When finishing up the rebuild of the front end i discovered that the ball joint on the right side is smaller than the left side! Does anyone know where this might have come from? everything else fits well and looks right. Thanks, boyd8 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15794-different-size-ball-joint/ Share on other sites
May 4, 200519 yr comment_122528 which year and model of car are you talking about? Actual ball joint, or tie-rod end? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15794-different-size-ball-joint/#findComment-122528 Share on other sites
May 4, 200519 yr Author comment_122561 it is a 70 240z and it is the actual ball joint and steering knuckle. so the old one had to be put back in for now. there is a 70 in the junk yard but if it, the knuckle, is from another car a may put in the correct joint for that steering knuckle. May 4, 200519 yr comment_122562 Later 240Z's had ball joints. steering knuckles & tie-rod ends that had different dimensions than the 1970 versions. As far as I know, the 1970 versions are no longer available. You may need to swap it all out for the later (more robust) versions. May 5, 200519 yr comment_122754 I have a few new 11mm ball joints in my spare parts box. (They are not Datsun/Nissan but rather oem replacements.) How many do you need?Keith Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15794-different-size-ball-joint/#findComment-122754 Share on other sites
