Hows the ride?

With me working on the car its hard wondering how this thing feels to drive. I find myself wondering how it is as far as speed and handling and how rough it is. Can someone please give me an idea of how it is to drive? Is there anything you can compare it to? I guess I will find out soon enough but I just want an idea so it gives me something to think about. Thanks

It depends! I can honestly say mine is more fun to drive than any Ferrari, Porsche or BMW that I have ever driven.

I will say it is more fun to drive on a smooth road rather than a bumpy one. Mine has Poly bushings so it can be a little rattle-ly at times and bumpy. It handles better in curves than my 73 Camaro but the Camaro is much more powerful and smoother riding. And quieter too believe it or not. I wouldnt trade either one for the other! I love them both for what they are. I think you will be happy once you get to drive it. Dont expect much and you will be pleasantly surprised. Expect too much and you're going to be disappointed.

How'd we go from talking about Ferraris to toys?!

I was trying to be funny there. I HAVENT driven ANY of those cars. That is why I say I like my Z more than those. BUT...I have ridden in a Porsche. My brother had a 98 911 that he just recently sold. I loved the car's looks, its sound and power and the sexiness of it but I was much too cramped in that thing. My knees were in the dash the entire time. I doubt I would enjoy one much from a comfort level. Which is bad for me cause they really are impressive cars.

Its kinda like getting to the basics of life when comparing z cars to Ferrari and porsche cars. I have not driven a ferrari but have driven and owned several Porsches and BMWs mind you not new 911's but older units. I think the Z has everything to offer that a 356 or a 320is or 2002 bulit up does. And yet is a car that seesm to draw much more attention and praise that the others. No doubt an old Dino would cause more of a stir but more of a dent in the wallet. Dollar per dollar hard to really beat a 240z . Looks, value, and cost of upkeep. Myself having had 26 cars so far have had plenty of time behind the wheel of many cars some nice some not , but few cars have ever given me such a smile as a 240z does< or people that see it and brings back memories>. Unfortunately looks like one of my two will be up for sale soon. Need the room for a daily driver.

I've driven classic Ferraris and Maseratis back when I was in Italy in the mid 60's. Beautiful, but intricate machinery. Had a friend who would buy up good used cars over there. We would ferry the cars up to Naples and ship them to the states. Had some great drives over the mountains and some very scary instance during those same trips. Italians were and are famous for their sense of competition and when one in his Fiat cinquacento (500cc) would start to pass another, there was very little that would get him to get back in the right lane until he accomplshed his goal.; and coming around a curve on a mountain road to find that going on put an awful lot of strain on your lights and brakes. Not to mention the donkey carts with a kerosene lantern hanging off the back.
