Whats going on?

The C110

Recommended Posts

My god, Lachlan! That looks schweeet!!!

When are you bringing it around for me to ogle and drool over (I promise I'll wipe it all off)

Mine's looking very forlorn in the shed at the moment. I'm collecting bits for it at the moment (performance bits, no cosmetics yet). I need inspiration!!

I need to have a good look at how you did your guards. I'll be ordering a set of the flares very soon.

I de-registered my car after my holiday from Japan

now it's sitting at my mum's lawn, it's sad to see my car just sitting there...

the project will be postponed AGAIN as I'm going for a holiday again next month

its good though that I mostly have the GTR cosmetic stuff ready

There was one 240K advertised on the trading post last week for $600 in brisbane described as in good condition, wonder who bought that...

Aha, Kent, thats a fantastical idea!! [improper gamma intended] I think your japanese police rally car will have to be the most unique c110 by far!! I guess the positive is that you will be able to show it off soon, despite your more serious c110 being put on hold...:classic:

Lachlan, i know how Warren is too, but its nice that someone has bothered to keep these 30+ year old parts for us 'enthusiasts' to drool over - just a pain when you have to repeat youself many, many times  . I was chasing an indicator lense from him, but i ended up finding second hand items [for both sides] for a fraction of the price :D Ive been eyeing off a c110 sedan that lives around here, driven by an old man and what appears to be in great condition - the source of spare parts perhaps. I managed to find out the hard way [and this was a long way back], that the khgc rear light panel does not fit the sedan....major drilling and grinding is required... :lick: :tapemouth

Your car is stunning, you should start going along to some datsun shows, just to stir things up a little :D I agree about the suspension, however, after thinking about it, maybe this is the only way it can be [for the rear that is]? The rear end uses A-arms for its IRS which pivot from a static point. If you are to lower the springs a great deal, you will end up with massive amounts of camber...Perhaps if you were to install adjustable camber plates, to correct the negative camber once lowered, it could work? Good luck anyhow :rambo:

Good to hear that your projects are continuing still, 440k and Razor, at least you havent given up on them yet! Is that a holiday to Japan Razor, if so thats still a massive positive [hey any holiday is a positive really :D].

Ill detail as soon as i get the carb rekit done. Regards,

Tom

Razor/Rob,

Get that Car off the Lawn or it wont be the same once you come back. Three words: RUST, RUST, RUST !!!

Lachlin,

Nice, very nice. Looks like that rear pipe could do with a re-bore ! I'll pretend I did not read that comment about a Toyota Motor ;-(

Peter, I'd love to see your car too (in whatever state it's in!) - this weekend or next weekend any time is fine by me. Give me a PM to let me know what time you like!

Rob, got all the cosmetics? Good job! How thorough are you going?? ie authentic badges, bucket seats?? Have you sourced some C110 rear quarter "GT" badges?

Also, how many bloody holidays do you want?!?! Lord knows how you save up any money for the car when you're jetsetting around the world all the time! ROFL

Tom, that really sucks about the tail light panels. I thought they'd be identical. If you ever need me to measure anything on the hardtop to see if it's different just ask! There's a lovely white 4-door going around my city too driven by an old couple. I put a note under their windscreen wiper a year or two ago LOL you never know...

Yes, the camber is a big problem if you go any lower - I had a talk with the guys and confirmed with King Springs that yes this is the LOWEST they make springs for the 240K. Insane isn't it... anyway, they are custom cutting the springs on the rear a little to make the car flat (at the moment there's about a 3cm rake). Hopefully then it'll look a little better. I think ideally the front would come down lower too an inch but I can only just get up the driveway as it is... gotta think sensibly sometimes.

Bruce, don't worry I don't think I could allow myself to do such a thing. An SR20DET maybe... but not Toyota (even though they are great engines). I'm getting a new exhaust system on Friday. :bunny:

Hey guys, how are we all? ;)

Lachlan chased me up so I figured I should probably come say hello again.

Nothing really to update though.

She's running 240Z SU's now, uhhh... that's about it? LOL Still slowly accumulating pieces here and there where I can, have actually bought a 910 Bluebird recently which is also soaking the funds up quite quickly. The plan was to use the 910 as a daily and start some serious work on the C110, no such luck as yet... but I'll get there.

There was a Datsun meet earlier this year in Dunedin, that I attended in the C110, I have some pictures around to show you, I'll just have to dig them up.

Genuine 240ZG, BTW, that's me on the left behind it. ;)

Great to hear from you, Michael, your car looks fantastic! Hows the difference with the SU's, pretty big i would imagine? Did you match-port the head to line up cleanly with the z manifold? Whats in the works for the c110? Did you have any interesting comments regarding your car's significance from the attendees at the datsun meet, or are they all friends? Any interesting comments from anyone for that matter?

Ahhhh wonderful ZG, just a shame about the vynil roof :D !!!! Probably one of the only examples ive seen wearing said roof - there were a few posts regarding the vynil roof as an option in a recent thread....!

Im haging out for a full side-on pic Lach, after the changes have been made :classic: Did you mention employing adjustable camber plates [i think thats whey are...correct me someone..??]?

Yeah, there's a marked difference with the SU's, mind you, my single was having a few issues with a blocked jet or something and at high rpm would just cut out, it was a pain in the arse. I didn't bother port matching, I got impatient :classic: , I actually got the SU's with an L28 for $400(ish, I can't recall exactly, may have been less) I was also too impatient to put the L28 in at the same time, so I swapped the manifolds over in about 20minutes LOL

Didn't get too many comments during the SFoS, a few people had a look at it, (we had a display in the middle of a Street Race event) no-one other than the people I knew really talked to me about it.

In the works, is still attempting to save, she will be RB26 powered, she will be a GT-R rep like Lachlans, except probably gloss black. In the meantime until I can afford a RB26 I'm keeping an eye out for the appropriate pieces to L28ET, seeing as I have the block and head just sitting here, just need a few random pieces, but I'll only get them if they come up cheap enough, I'm a bit of a scrooge ;)

Lachlan, most of the major cosmetics... but there's still heaps to collect though. Yes I found GT badges but not sure if its genuine I think its remake or something but its very close, I'll look for it and take pictures for you guys to decide if its close to the real thing.

so far I've got front & rear spoiler, overfenders, GT badges, GTR badges front and back, fender mirrors (looks brand new!), skyline badges, GTR grille, and planning to get the other stuff after the holidays. You never know might stop in Japan again....

regarding the seats might just find something comfy and sporty locally dont mind them anyway.
