Posted May 18, 200519 yr comment_124310 My 72 240Z has the original muffler and resonator and the muffler chrome is getting a little rusty and so I'd like to replace it with something that looks and sounds better. I was originally thinking of using a Monza tip, but apparently they don't make them anymore. I don't really want to replace the whole system just the muffler at this time. What can I put in place of the stock muffler that will look nice and sound lower and more throaty ? May 18, 200519 yr comment_124324 Most people around here use a turbo muffler. You can put a chrome extension on it that looks stock. You can pay anywhere from 14.99 to 99.99 for a turbo muffler. I think the Borla (99.99) is the best and makes a deep, quiet sound. I am going to buy one soon. I am looking for quality sound. I do not want a LOUD muffler, either. A friend just took a Dynomax off his car to go to Motorsports and installed a Borla. Made for a nice, quiet trip! May 18, 200519 yr comment_124343 Flowmaster Series 40 sounds very nice- rich, deep, and throaty (not rice burner by any means). I am a fan of glasspacks myself, however. They're inexpensive, flow great, and sound awesome Dave Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15952-muffler-recomendations/#findComment-124343 Share on other sites
