So I got the blue headliner and door panel materiial and and found out that the windshield sun visors are supposed to be blue but can not find them.

Still do not know if the carpet, door handles, escusions and hand brake cover were blue or was it black and if I can get them anywhere.

Also do not know if I can peel the chrome trim off of an old black door panel and have it applied to my blue one.

I assume by your user name you are located in Australia. Blue interior is VERY rare here, Id like to see some pics of your car/interior when you are able.

Recover the chrome door strips yourself. Go to a boating supply store and you should be able to purchase "chrome tape" off the roll by the metre. Remove all of the flaking chrome off your door trims so the plastic strip goes back to purple in colour, cut the tape to length/width an peel the backing off and apply section by section.

Take your time for a good result. You may also need to muck around and trial some widths as the tape is about 2" wide from the roll. Also remove your trims and lay them on the ground to do it.

Hope this helps out. Please post some pics of you car when you get time.

BTW, all of the winder handles, interior rear view mirror, door handles etc were all black on blue interior cars, also for tan/white interior for all 240z. I believe that there were tan/white door handles made for the 260z.

Welcome to the club! You have come to the right place.

I also happen to have a blue on blue '70. It is both a blessing and a curse. The blue interior is very rare, so you don't see many around. But trying to get original parts for it is nearly impossible. If you don't have to have Nissan parts, then best place to get aftermarket replacements is Classic Datsun: http://www.classicdatsun.com/ They were one of the original shops hired by Nissan to perform restorations on the Classic Z-Car Program. They carry the interior plastic panels, seat covers, and diamond vinyl. Maybe the headliner too.

Getting door panels is next to impossible. I have owned my car since 1998 and still have not found a new blue drivers door panel. I bought a black one and dyed it blue to match with SEM vinyl dye, great stuff. I can send you instructions on how to do it if you need them.

Visors were blue, carpet was black.

New dashes for a 1970 are also pretty impossible to find. Occassionally they might come up on ebay, but be prepared to pay big bucks for them.

The correct Datsun paint code is Blue 903. A good body shop should be able to match it.

Post some pictures. We always like to see pics of a new member's car. You can check my gallery to see mine.

Really? That is good to hear. I know Too Intense has some kind of kit to re-cover a door. It uses the hard parts from your original door though. I don't really like the looks of them from Ebay pictures. Anybody seen them in person? I would prefer a straight replacement for the originals. Something to just clip on without having to hope you assemble them correctly.

Marty,

I am pretty sure Les has the door panels too.

He prefers to install them on your panels but I think you can have a local shop do them for you. He has the correct blue to match the seat covers and replacement panels in the hatch area. I have already picked up his replacement 6 piece replacement panel set.

No, this is something altogether new.
