Bill.Oakes Posted May 19, 2005 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2005 Hi all,I have the tranny out of my 240z (an '83zx 5sp) and want to change out all of the oil. I've seen a couple different capacity levels listed for filling. Is 3 1/8 pints an accurate capacity level for refilling?thanksBill OakesLibertyville, IL
240ZX Posted May 19, 2005 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2005 As long as you have enough gear lube on hand, just fill the tranny until it comes out the fill plug hole...just like filling a differential. I believe the FSM provides transmission lube capacities.

Bill.Oakes Posted May 20, 2005 Author Share #5 Posted May 20, 2005 True, true - as long as you apply the 20/20 rule (20ft at 20mph) it looks great! Now to just get it all back together!-Bill
ZSaint Posted May 25, 2005 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2005 The manual says 4 1/4 pints or a little more than 2 quarts. (2 liters!)
Bill.Oakes Posted May 25, 2005 Author Share #7 Posted May 25, 2005 That seems to be right - I've seen a few different listings.I filled it up a couple days ago and two quarts seemed to do it - thanks!-Bill
