I'm pretty sure the plot was that he wasn't sucked up in a retardant or water bomber. Instead exposure to the fire blew his tanks and he ended up in a tree. Anyway gotta love CSI (the original), but can't stand that pinched faced, I smell something bad look old what's-his-name (David Caruso) does in place of acting on CSI Miami.
