I'm pretty sure the plot was that he wasn't sucked up in a retardant or water bomber. Instead exposure to the fire blew his tanks and he ended up in a tree. A Google search struck upon this lively discussion on a Scuba Forum - http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=82129. Anyway gotta love CSI (the original), but can't stand that pinched faced, I smell something bad look old what's-his-name (David Caruso) :o does in place of acting on CSI Miami. All the shows drive my dad crazy because they are always out doing the "real" detective's jobs like regular cops. Dad's a "Law and Order" man (fanatic).
