My son & I drove the '71 240Z 3 hours to ZDayZ at the Tail of the Dragon (318 curves in 11 miles!). It did very well on the road. I see now why in the early '70's the 240Z was such a hit. The car was an incredible performance car & value. We had a blast at the event. It was the only white/blue combo there and we got a lot of compliments. We met and talked to Carl Beck while waiting on the Z group shot at Fontana Dam. Carl drove 12 hours from FL for the event. My son enjoyed meeting him especially since he read the piece Carl did in SportZ Mag about getting his first 240Z and driving it across the country in the early 70's. There were 150 Z cars with probably 20 or so S30's in the group shot. I'll post some pics soon. We were representing in our Classic Zcar shirts!

Glad you had a good time. We're going next year. Scott and I wore our CZC shirts to MSA as did Victor Laury. Carl Beck is great guy, just lives down the road from us. Can't wait for the pictures.

Sunday was a great day to drive the dragon, not a cop in sight and only a couple of trucks with trailers, usually going the opposite direction. And when they were going our way they were kind enough to move over and let us by. I rode with the guys from New Hampshire and it was a blast. Thank god I didn't eat breakfast before going out. That is one of the best, well maintained roads I have ever seen (on the Tennessee side) with some built in banks to boot. I really want to bring mine next year and if I do, I'll win the long distance award and take it away from them New Englanders. Unless of coarse someone comes from CA.

This road is made for Z's and anyone that owns one should drive the dragon at least once in the cars lifetime.

I've been to many Z events and I can tell you that this was truly a driving event first (without being on a track) and a car show second. usually it's the other way around. if you love to drive and live back east, this is the event to attend in the future. For once, a drive that didn't end at a restaurant. LOL

Now iI can't wait for the meet up in Denver, since that looks to be a driving event as well, but this time I'll have my car and the rocky mountains to contend with.

Zrush, your car is beautiful! I had a chance to really check it out at Zfest this year.

Zdayz was a blast! While I didn't own my 240Z at the time, it was there too! I was in the 350Z with the polished eaton supercharger, and the 240Z was owned by someone else at the time, but was lime green with a black 240Z stripe on the bottom of the doors. I bought it last thursday, been wanting another since I sold my last one 5 years ago.
