which motor? 240z or 260z?

Just trying to figure out what your question is, I'll go with this. Do you want to put one of them in the 280? Do you have an engine in the 280 right now? If so, then it's a pretty straight forward swap. You will have to change a lot of stuff converting from gas to FI. Just make sure you know what goes where. Clean all the connections before hooking them back up. As far as choice of engines go, use the best one. There isn't all that much difference. I believe the 240 will rev a little better than the 260. Good luck in your swap.

L24 vs L26 = L26 bigger bore

L24 vs L28 = L28 bigger bore and stroke.

Which engine? Not too sure from your question what you are asking really.

However, what do you want to do with your car. Are you thinking of bringing it back to standard? If so keep the original engine. If you want more poke, the bigger the better, so a L28 for you it is. Try to think of the car as an overall package. No point going fast if you can't stop or handle properly. Those old shocks and springs are stuffed.

If you have room, always keep the original engine. A car with the correct engine no. will fetch more than non stock in most books.

tnx for the reply, but what i was saying is that i have a 240z that im goin to sell and it has the stock motor with 6 to 1 headers, clifford manifold and holley carbs. I also have a 260z that im goin to keep and the motor is stock but im going to put webers on it coz it doesnt have the SU's :devious: What i meant with the 280z is that I have an L28 motor (block and head) that's collecting dust. I was thinking of building a stroker. L26 head + L28 block...

what u think?

FOR CLAIRIFICATION OF MISINFORMATION THE BORE ON THE L-24 and the L-26 is the SAME ! The stroke in the L-26 and the L-28 is the same . So a 260Z block is a 240Z with a longer stroke . So I guess you could call it a STROKER. LOL Before dumping much money into the L-26 head , do some research on the cost of the porting and larger valves and such , then look to your options on a later year head as to combustion chamber design and intake and exhaust flow. You might have a look at the information on choosing between a turbo engine and a stroker. Money invested and H P between the two. It all comes down to '' Horse power costs money , how fast do you want to SPEND " I just noticed that James is from New Zeland . There 260s are a different breed of Cat from ours here in the US . They had a 260 for a number of years . I don't have clue on there specs. Gary
