May 27, 200519 yr comment_125401 Best bet is to clean the rims and look for markings cast or stamped into the wheel. Back in the day, most of the wheel manufacturers copied each other endlessly. Very difficult to accuarately identify a wheel from a picture. May 27, 200519 yr comment_125408 All appliance wheels have the letter A cast in the back side. I just sold a set. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16057-identify-these-rimsplease/#findComment-125408 Share on other sites
May 28, 200519 yr Author comment_125418 This may be a duplicate reply, last one seemed to fail. Anyway, cleaned some crud from the back of the rim, and have found this info so far. May 28, 200519 yr comment_125421 On the surface, that would seem to eliminate "Appliance" or "Western" as the manufacturer. (pun intended) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16057-identify-these-rimsplease/#findComment-125421 Share on other sites
May 28, 200519 yr comment_125436 The site below implies that some Appliance wheels were made in Japan. Nice site...by the way. That's news to me http://www.roadsters.com/wheels/ "Appliance wheels were popular in the Seventies. Their five-spoked wheels can be identified by the word "Japan" stamped on the inside, and also by their large, recessed holes for the lug nut washers to seat in. As long as you don't mind the deep holes for the lug nut washers, Appliance five-spoked wheels are considered to be good-quality Torq-Thrust copies."
