=( i broke the bleed screw on the right rear drum brake. I bled the rest of the system and im still getting decent brakeing, but what do i do now? another problem is my 72 datsun has spot from 2000-4000 rpms where it runs terrible. before i started changing stuff around on the carb i figured i would ask people here and also to say my muffler is gone and could possibly be a factor. My final question is what to do about my floorboards... mine need to be replaced in both sides of the car, but the support underneath them ( im not quite sure what its called, but it runs underneath the floor boards giving them support) is rotted completely aswell, maybe there is a kit that sells driver and passenger supports. Also how would i go about putting floorboards in, could i screw them into existing metal instead of welding?

First of all you said carb. and in single ? Zs have two . What is the car you are asking about . This is a Zcar web site mostly , some times we can help with other cars . If the floors are rusted out the repair is vary costly. If the car is a Z , Zedd Findings has floors. Screwing in the new floors is foolhardy , dangerous and a waist of time. For the bleed screw that is broken. Replace the offending wheel cylinder . Brakes are nothing to compromise on . If they fail where are you ???????? REPLACE IT. In the future please offer more information . I find it difficult to read your mind.

Hi zman!

No, you can't screw in new floor panels. They would need to be welded in. Replace your wheel cylinder. Replace or repair your exhaust leaks. Check the advance mechanism of your distributer and set the timing, adjust the valves, before you go messing with the carbs.

sry wen i posted it i was quite tired. its a 1972 datsun 240z with 2 SU carbs. how much would a brake cylinder cost for this type of car and my last question is there seems to be like a screw or something missing from the header and it blows out air giving it kinda of a odd noise (its not pinging or knocking). The location of the missing screw is about half way down the header on the right side if ur looking at the car from the driver side. I dont know if suppose to be missing or its suppose to be there because i couldnt find anything on it in the manual. Anyways thanks for the responses guys i really appreciate it.

What you describe sounds like where and oxygen sensor would mount. Of course, a 72 wouldn't have one. Nor would any other S30. Is this a header or a stock exhaust manifold? Either way, if it has an oxygen sensor hole, it's from a 280ZX. Plug it or weld it closed.

I beleive its a stock manifold. i purchased the car 1 week ago and got it from not even turning over to starting, moving, stopping and 99% of the lights to work. The car may have an exhaust manifold from a 280 but i kinda doubt it because it seems to be all original and only has 55k orig. miles on it. Anyways ill plug it like you said. Another question of mine is are there different models of a 240z? because ive noticed some have different stock mirrors, rims, and a rear rail system off the rear bumper. I was told there was a rally edition or something of that sort? but it could be false information. Anyways im new to the 240z, but im catching on quick. Thanks for all the responses.. keep em comin i really appreciate it.

Wheels, mirrors, and "rear rail system off the bumper" are quite often added as aftermarket parts. There was only one "stock" mirror, but dealer sold other mirrors and even back then people tended to personalize their cars with aftermarket parts. There was only one version of 240Z available in the USA.
