I was just curious about the differences in the horn pads for the 70-78 models, because I can't freakin' remember - ! I'm posting this here so that others can learn as well - part of the Z history.

Here's 2 pix I have of horn pads. Can someone tell me which years they're for? And, anyone who has different pix of horn pads for these particular models is more than welcome to post them here, so that others can be educated on it as well. Thanks!

The horn pad on the left looks like 48410-E4600, but mine has a Datsun emblem in the middle. The pad on the right looks like N3500, but the parts book shows it with a Z logo. 7 - 73 is the change date.

Well, hi ya, 26th-Z! Hmmmm, I was thinking the one with the Z logo is for the 74-76 models, and the Datsun one is for the 70-73 models. Can anyone confirm that? I believe my other two 280Z's had even a different horn pad (77-78 models), of which I don't have a pic.

My 78 has the one pictured on the left.

I have a 77 and 78 and both have the pad on the left.

The one with the Z in it is from '77 or a 78, the other one is from a '74-'74, and the 240Z pad has the same "Datsun" emblem, but the pad is smaller.

Interesting ... so it appears that the:

Datsun logo = 70-73 models

Z logo = 77-78 models

That means there's one other pad for the 74-76 models, right? Cuz there's a total of 3 different pads for 70-78 models. Does anyone have a pic. of the other pad?

I have examples of all three, let me get my camera, and do a little digging...

You're exactly right. I just did the same thing! :laugh: ... rummaged through my garage for the horn pad from one of my 73 240Z's, and found that it was much smaller than the other Datsun one. Sorry, my pic. sux.

the picture z babe just posted is what is in 70-73 240z's in the US....easily confirmed by going through the photo galleries....it's what is in my 72 240z as well.

I edited my last post to include the picture, and labeled the different pads-the 74-76, and the 77/78 will intechange.

Hey hls30 if you zoom in on your camera and move further back you can minimize the distortion that you see in that ruler for example (the perspective slant of the lines). Your camera has to be able to focus from further back but cameras these days can do just about anything. ANyway just a tip.
