  • 6 months later...

Its definitely a skyline head - I have one and its from a 1980 skyline 2000

L20-ET 1998cc OHC 6 cylinder, EFI, turbo 144hp Skyline (Japan only).

I have a spare engine with it on.

I've been researching hard and it appears that it was fitted to Aust and NZ skylines.

I haven't taken the head off to have a look at it yet. Possibly its pre unleaded gas and therefore doesn't have the hardened valve seats. I bought the engine with a view to turboing my 2litre zx, which has a Y20 head on it. Unfortunately both these setups are pretty obscure and I've been having trouble getting a full description of the piston setups etc. hope someone can help. I'm going to pull the skyline head off so maybe I'll have to post some pix.

I have one here. It's off a L20ET. Yes, the ports are tiny, but the walls are quite thick. You can port them out and make 350rwhp, but stock rod failure is immenent. They have hardened seats as they are an unleaded motor. It was never fitted to Aust skylines, only 2nd hand motors or in low production imports
