May 31, 200519 yr comment_125731 If you get this done keep us posted as I'll bet many more first gen Z owners have wanted to do it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16089-steering-change/#findComment-125731 Share on other sites
May 31, 200519 yr comment_125734 If the tires are near stock width, even she doesn't need power steering....Zeds have the easiest steering....gets tougher if you go wide however....that's not an easy install from what i've seen. June 10, 200618 yr comment_170616 Ahh..., Richard, I wouldn't use the 280ZX rack as it's rear mounted to the x-member which means if you turn the steering wheel right the car will go left & vise versa... not a good thing.Nick. June 10, 200618 yr comment_170630 Check on hybridz.org. Members there have done Mustang racks which look like they're not such a good fit, but the Subaru WRX rack is really a close fit. Not quite bolt in but I don't think you'll find anything closer for p/s on a Z. A search should bring it up. June 12, 200618 yr comment_170782 check the tire pressures... I have found that a tire thats low on air will be hard to turn, and when filled up to the max pressure, steers way better. plus I go 5 to 10 psi over max, and find I get better grip from the front tires. Tires are going to wear anyways, and with prices on normal tires these days, who cares about getting 50,000 miles out of a tire when the car is driven only 10,000 miles at the most a year.
