clutch slave cylinder 240Z

hi

can i use the clutch slave cylinder from a late 73 240Z ( i got a new one )for a early 71 240Z ??

there is no adjustable pushrod on the 73 cylinder and on my old cylinder there is one ??

You can use the cyl, but pay attention to the end play of the rod.

The original cyl one has a spring that keeps the rod pulled in, and thus makes for free play at the rod/arm contact point.

The cyl without the spring has no cast in hole to hook the return spring to.

Thus the piston is not drawn back. This means the length of the rod has to be set to what came with the "new' cyl.

Check the length of the adjustable rod, and set it back at this length when installing. there is no "free play" between the rod and the lever arm, but it is not under pressure either

I recently did this job, along with a new master cyl.

When through bleeding the system, insure there is some free travel at the bottom of the peddle throw, and check the clutch arm to insure it is not being pushed/under pressure when the hydrolic system is at rest.
