240z window squeegee solutions

I am too cheap to spend $150 a pair for the chrome and rubber replacements. I have seen where you can buy the rubber only for around $50-$75/pair and they suggest epoxying them onto the old chrome piece in lieu of the original ones being stapled on, but I doubt that works well. Anyone tried this?

I have even purchased a 36" commercial window squeegee for $3 to see if I could make it work...but unlikely will.

I recall one of the members had devised an alternative solution to paying up the nose for these parts. I don't recall his name, but do recall he's in Europe somewhere.

If you were to use the search function, I'b be willing to bet you could find that information. So, wadaya think?

Hiya Perry,

weird! thats just what i did today, I bought the rubber and epoxied them to the metal trims, left it for about a week (used 24hr, 2 part epoxy [araldite] I also used bits of tape to hold it all in place while the epoxy set)

Looks good, though theres a bit of a gap in one spot, where the rubber doesnt sit hard down on the metal, be careful when you trim the new rubbers to suit the doors, I cut one a little short so now I have a gap beside the window frame (taped a small piece in place to cover the hole)

Heaps cheaper than buying the new setup + I powdered coated my door trims satin black, dont like chrome!

Steele and Metro and other places like that dont list anything actually for a Datsun so you have to buy bulk stuff and try to make it work. Might as well try JC Whitney. IMO $150 is not that much to spend on something that is the correct part for your car, and fits right out of the box.
