Posted June 4, 200519 yr comment_126288 I just installed 5.5" 10000 RPM clutch. Stiff as hell. I'm using stock Nissan throwout bearing. Should I be using or doing something different? June 4, 200519 yr comment_126303 If you have an after market clutch pedal assembly, like Tilton or Wilwood, you can change clutch master cyl size to ease the load on the leg. I have also seen some using an anular/hydraulic setup. Search for Tilton on the web, and check that stuff out. Its good but expensive.Phred Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16150-stiff-race-clutch/#findComment-126303 Share on other sites
June 4, 200519 yr Author comment_126334 I'm using a tilton master I believe it's 3/4" You would think that would help.I can't remember which is right. The smaller the dia. the harder the pressure or the opposite. June 4, 200519 yr comment_126342 I had a Formula Ford a number of years ago with a single tilton. I went from a 7/8 to a 3/4 and it was easier on the push. I don't know if they make a 5/8 or not. Call their tech line and see what they suggest.Phred Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16150-stiff-race-clutch/#findComment-126342 Share on other sites
June 6, 200519 yr comment_126556 A smaller MC will make it easier OR a larger slave cylinder will have the same effect or a combination of the two!. Tilton does make a 5/8". I believe pegasusauotracing.com carries the whole spectrum...The math is: MC input force*MC piston area=Slave piston area * Slave output forceTom Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16150-stiff-race-clutch/#findComment-126556 Share on other sites
June 6, 200519 yr Author comment_126558 It turns out the master I'm using is 7/8" Way... too big.It worked fine on the Center Force clutch. The local shop has a 3/4" that I'm going to try. I also learned never put thread lock on that push rod thread. What a pain getting that out. Thanks for help. June 20, 200519 yr Author comment_127995 Well. I installed 3/4 Master and it's still too stiff and I'm not taking that pedal assembly apart again :knockedou What's the story on slave cylinder? Does Nissan offer different sizes or is there an aftermarket bolt on? Also anyone know what size the stock one is?
