Hey guys. After a lengthy search i think i found the 240z for me. Only problem is that its in Arizona and im in Illinois. My work schedule wont allow me to go see the car in person, but from the many pics and talkin to the guy it sounds like its in fine shape and at a great price too. So what i wanted to know is how have you guys transported your z's. what company did you use and how much am i lookin at to get it moved? I already tried dependable auto shippers, but they wont answere the phone or emails. So they seem to be kind of shady. Also the car is non running, i know that makes a difference. I really appreciate the help guys.

have you closed the deal ? Have you had a independant person have a look at it for you. A fellow member and I have gone out and inspected cars for buyers and saved them some air fair and cash. There are enough members spread all over the country that there may be someone that is close and willing to have a look for you . As an uninterested party. The last one we looked at was supposed to be a vary clean car and good running . Will it had lots , I mean lots of bondo , rusted floor pans that were ''repaired'' with fiberglass with out removing the rusted metal . The paint from 20' looked ok but standing next to the car it was obvious the preperation had been shabby and in some areas omitted. Having a Z driver have a look at a Z in my openion is important. Good luck with your quest. Gary Portland Oregon .

John,

Finding a transport company can be a nightmare. I Google searched car transport and got a boatload of companies. I too inquired about shipping costs and these people were suppose to e-mail me back or return a call with a quote. Only a few responded so I made an inqiry to my insurance company and they set me up with a carrier that they use. All has gone really smooth. The company took care of all the paperwork and were very professional. My choices were limited to only a few transport companies due to where the car was being picked up i.e. Canada but there are many who transport within the US. Get as many quotes as possible and check credentials. Good luck and congrats on your possible purchase! :classic:

I bought a car sight-unseen and look what I got! That isn't rust. It's a brown metal-flake "finish"! ROFLLOLROFL

You mentioned that the car doesn't run. That is going to be your big problem. I got quotes as low as $800 from Delaware to Florida in an open trailer, but most of the quotes were over a grand because the car was dead. I hope you really want this car. It is going to cost you as much to ship it as you probably paid for it.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I found a site called autoshippingquotes.com. i filled out a form and they emailed it to a bunch of transporters for me. About 6 companies got back to me already and it appears that 950-1k is what its gonna cost. 200 less if it were running. Oh well.

I will look around for any member near the location of the car and see if they would help me out. I have been told many times how clean a car is and then its a different story in person, and i would hate to waste all this time and money for a bondo covered rust bucket. but it doesnt look like the one in 26th-z's pic at all. I hope this is the one so i can start wrenchin on a car again instead of lookin for one. thanks alot guys.

Hello John,

I too purchased my baby in Arizona. (Gilbert, AZ) I also bought my Z just going by photos and talking to the previous owner over the phone and through E-mail. I loved the car so much that I didn't care about taking chances. I know Z Cars and I also knew I had the funds to fix a problem if I had too. I got lucky and my Z was as beautiful in person as she was in the photos :) I didn't have to do anything major at all. Just basic routine stuff. She sure got a good home with me. I had it shipped to me here in Minnesota and I used Dependable Auto Shippers and was very happy with them. Not a nick on it ;) There charge to me was in the 900.00 range and that was with the car ON TOP so other cars couldn't leak on it :D They also have like a satilite tracking so you can go on there web site and see where it's exact location is during travel. I did the "Terminal to Terminal" option but you will probably have to pay extra to have the "Door to Door" being yours doesn't run. Anyways I was a satisfied customer.

Best of luck John.

You might want to post how the seller has represented the car.. we may find 'inconsistencies' between the pics and the statements.. it's happened plenty of times here before...

Few spots that look rusty / bubling beneath... although, I personally love the bumper tow bracket.. what'd the seller say about that?

I know the car is not mint. He has been pretty up front and honest about the car. He told me the interior is beat, the engine runs but there are drivetrain problems that prevent it from driving. some surface rust, but nothing is rusting through. he said below the battery tray is fine, floor boards frame rails and rockers are fine. In the shot of the rear, right below the bumper, the body looks alil tweaked, maybe its just the picture though. Im still talking with the owner and getting more info on the car and im gonna ask about that. hes askin 1k for the car. if its as clean as he says it is then it sounds like a good deal to me. what do you guys think
