June 9, 200519 yr comment_126877 hhmm I don't know I've found 240Z's that are driveable for a $1000.00. I did find his ad on collector car trader online. June 9, 200519 yr Author comment_126881 He has the same description on the autoextra.com site. I asked him about that what he said he means is that there is no major rust like holes, just minor surface rust. He has sent me more pics of the inner fender wells, doorjams/rockers, underbody, and some engine bay pics and everything looks pretty clean. just that litte frekle surface rust, but not much of that even. I am lookin for a restore project, so im basically just lookin for a straight forward shell. I dont mind alil rust and dents as im gonna be takin car of that stuff. Even if it ran i would be pullin the motor out anyway, and probably gonna put something else in there, so that doesnt matter much. Wanna hear something that drives me crazy, the guy across the street has a 72 240 in mint condition, no rust anywhere, perfect int. its been sitting in the same spot for the past 25 years atleast but he doesnt want to sell it. everytime i ask he just says he likes to look at it in his driveway. kinda frustrating that what i want is right across the street but ill probably end up having to get one from across the country. eh, im thinkin ill offer the guy 700 and see what he says. If he doesnt take that then ill keep looking. Thanks for the replies guys. June 9, 200519 yr comment_126952 Do I understand this correct? You'll spend $1000 plus shipping (another 1000)have on shipped across the country, that you know has some rust (surface), doesn't run, no good interior, etc.but you'd only offer 700 for one across the street that has a 'mint' interior, no rust and is much better shape (your description)???Why not offer the neighbor closer to 1500? Save yourself some money and get possibly a better ride... June 10, 200519 yr comment_126963 Rust is rust man  Minor or not he should not say stuff like that under his description. It's just not being honest PERIOD. Quiet honestly man I think you could do better for a $1000.00 + shipping charges. Hopefully someone will save that 240Z though There is another one i saw on that website I listed that ran. Said it had a good motor and drivetrain but it does have rust however. If not anything major like rusted out rails, spare tire compartment, Front cowel area ect. ect. than i think it would be worth taking a look at. I'll go and track it down again and post the link here for you. Good luck John. But that looks like a cancer carrier.See if he will send more pictures-it is already off the ground, so checking the underside should be easy! Gotta love a trailer made from mobile home parts!!!Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16169-getting-my-z-home-shipping/?&page=2#findComment-129920 Share on other sites
July 8, 200519 yr comment_129943 Heh i paid $1000 for a 240z that looked good in person and in pics, however i stripped it down only to find out the unibody was shot beyond repair, and the rails were gone aswell. Whats funny is it ran and drove and best of all stopped =P Ive come to realize that the more expensive the resto car is, the worse condition its in ( just from experience) now im buying a 76 280z for $600 and its solid as a rock AND its from california ( very rare to find in massachusetts =P) anyways.. if i were you i would not buy a car that you havent looked at yourself or havent had someone from here take a peak at it. You can never really tell the extent of the rust and rot unless you look at it yourself. Try searching around alot and it may take some time ( if you havent already), sometimes its best to wait and spend your money on something closer. For $1500-$2000 you could get a solid Z much closer to you. Let me know... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16169-getting-my-z-home-shipping/?&page=2#findComment-129946 Share on other sites
