Posted June 6, 200519 yr comment_126544 Hi Friends, I installed A few weeks ago a set of polyurethane mustache bar bushings. But after this, the noise of the diff-gears increased so much , that I don't like driving with closed windows anymore. Many people her did the same, but am I the only one with with this complains ? I'm sure that there is no metall connection what can transmit the noise. And the diff is o.k too. Thanks in advance Rainer Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16178-more-noise-after-urethane-mustache-bar/ Share on other sites
June 6, 200519 yr comment_126545 I have done the same thing , however my Z isn't driveable yet. When I bought the R-200 the bushings and bar came with it , so I installed them. I have been concerned about this vary issue. I know that ureathane bushings on the suspention will transmit road noise and for that reason I dident use them there. My car is for street use only . If I find the noise is transmitted through the ureathene I will change them out. June 6, 200519 yr comment_126552 if only we could see what was happening when we are driving.ive had trouble with my 280zx R200 but never had any trouble with the R180 funny that. What i did was grease one area at a time and see if the noise still accured. Theres so many moving parts it could b anything. My 240Z dosent have that problem so i wont care for now. Good luck. I know the noise is even louder when some one is in the passenger seat. June 7, 200519 yr comment_126565 I got all poly bushings on my 280Z with a 3.9 differential. Being its a bigger diff. and that it's got the polyurethane bushings I notice some gear noise which is normal but not to the point where it bothers me at all. Only thing that I noticed with it was that it would squeek when they would move during turns and small bumps. I went under my Z and sprayed them down with a synthetic lubricant from Valvoline and that eliminated the problem.
