KDMatt Posted June 15, 2005 Author Share #13 Posted June 15, 2005 Hrm... well I happen to kind of like the way the ZX looks, it sort of looks like a spaceship IMO, . ...and as it turns out, the character SilverStreak from Transformers was a 280ZX anyway, so it's now it's like official (In case you didn't know, I'm a Transformers fan too...) a silver 280ZX? It's gotta be like fate or something, that's really coincidental. I looked into 300ZXs too, and I couldn't find any at a price I liked in a condition I found acceptable. Believe me, I've looked into several different generation Z's, and I have searched for them all... but from what I can tell right now, this particular 280ZX seems to be the offer able to give me the most bang for my buck... unless of course that thing with the guages not lighting up is serious. Hrm, besides, the thing I like about the first and second gen Z's is that they don't just blend in with the crowd. A lot of the newer ones just seem sort of 'par' with auto styling of the era. Even the 90's 300ZX and new 350Z seem to lack a certain luster for me. Anyway, that's about enough of that I suppose.
sblake01 Posted June 15, 2005 Share #14 Posted June 15, 2005 IIRC, at least on my 78, if the fuse blows that controls the dash lights, you also lose the tail lights, running lights, and dome light.
ecp48 Posted June 16, 2005 Share #15 Posted June 16, 2005 I last drove a 280Zx when a friend of mine bought an 80 new from the dealer. I had a 75 280 at the time. My 280 had stiffer springs (mulholland) and headers and ran well. The ZX affected me as more of a secretary's car (nothing against secretary's, my wife was one!) However, it was more "looks like a sports car" than acts like one. It was in essense a "sporty car".The only ZX that would tempt me would be 280ZX Turbo 5 spd for obvious reasons, and even there you had to overcome the "boulevard" ride. It is all what you like. My friend thought his was great. It didn't ride rough like mine did. Of course mine, (75 280) got a second in the Bay Bottom Crawl in 1980. (240 was untouchable.)Enough reminiscing. KDMatt Posted June 16, 2005 Author Share #16 Posted June 16, 2005 Hrm... well any ideas on how I would find it out if it was a fuse? For one thing, I don't even know where the fuse box is on a ZX. I've never been up close to one before.... and I tell you what, the interior on the ZX is uuugley. That would be the first thing I redo. That steering wheel are shift boot are just about as good as gone assuming I get this car.
