Posted June 15, 200519 yr comment_127479 When I bought my car, it came with the illumina 5 ways (BZ-3012 front and BZ-3013 rear) and Tokico 5022-F and 5022-R springs, attached to the 280Z front and rear suspensions (rear drums and control arms and front toyota brake assemblies) as taken off a race car.Front strut housings have been sectioned and are now shorter than the 240s, Rear strut housings are longer than the stock 240. Front and rear shocks are the same length with the rears having spacers installed. My plan is to cut the spacers in the rear to accomodate the shorter length of the rear housings and use the 280 strut housings in front.Question is, will this give the car an odd rake, or does it sound about right?Should I just sell this setup and get one for the 240?Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16263-280-suspension-into-240z-questions/ Share on other sites

June 16, 200519 yr comment_127601 If my memory serves me right. The 280Z shock housings are both longer and wider then the 240Z's. With the sectioning already done. It may not be that bad. I do know the springs are longer and the shocks are wider on the 280Z. Don't know if they moved the mounting points for the spring on the shock housing, when they sectioned the struts. Get or borrow some 240Z shock housings and compare before you do any thing. June 16, 200519 yr Author comment_127625 The 280 housings are about .2" wider. The 280 strut inserts should have room to fit in the 240 housings. I'm putting the 280 housings up front and using the 240s in the rear. The rear struts have a 4" spacer under them, so with less of a spacer it should work. If I like the stance of the car, I can have the rear 280 tubes sectioned to the same length as the 240s.Unfortunately, I have to order new bushings, so the car will be in the air for a couple weeks probably.
