Posted June 23, 200519 yr comment_128283 Okay... so I'd like to know if this is true, because apparently there's a story behind the creation of the name Datsun... okay, the people who founded datsun didn't have a name for their company.. they went to the germans (i'm not sure which car company) because the germans made cool names.. the germans said "Dat soon?" and the rest is history... Later they changed to "Nissan" for "Nippon"... Well... does that sound right? June 23, 200519 yr Author comment_128290 Thanks for the info Alfa, that datsunhistory.com website was very informative....The name comes, in part, from the names of the three original investors: Kenjiro D en who helped organize the original company, Rokuro A oyama a childhood friend, and Meitaro T akeuchi- a cousin of a former prime minister who helped arrange financing... hence the name DAT. Roughly translated it means "hare","fast rabbit", or "very fast" in Japanese, depending on whose translation you want to believe...
